Bomb Threat Forces Evacuation Of Newark City Hall
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Employees have returned to Newark's City Hall after a bomb threat forced the evacuation of the building.
Just before 10 a.m. Monday, Newark police received a call from a man who didn't identify himself but said four bombs were set to explode in the building at 11:09 a.m., the city said a statement.
Cit Hall was immediately evacuated. Fire, police and emergency crews responded to the scene and conducted a room-by-room search.
No explosive devices were found and the all-clear was given at about 11:15 a.m.
"Bomb threats are acts of terror that will be investigated to their conclusion by city, and possibly state and federal officials," said Police Director Eugene Venable. "The department is actively investigating the source of the call."
