On WFAN: Impending Free Agent Antrel Rolle Hasn't Discussed New Contract

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Giants safety Antrel Rolle joined WFAN co-hosts Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts for his weekly spot on Tuesday afternoon.

But this wasn't your typical weekly spot.

As part of the "Lunch with a Champion" show, the three-time Pro Bowler joined Joe & Evan from the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square.

The Giants are riding high coming off of three consecutive victories following an 0-2 start, and Rolle can't help but like what he sees from this team.

"I see these guys every day, so I'm very confident in what we have going on," Rolle told Joe & Evan. "And it's continuing to grow. That's the most positive thing that we can take from this."

Arguably the captain of New York's defense, Rolle will be a free agent after the season. Always in the moment, the 31-year-old maintains that -- at this point in time -- he's not at all thinking about a new contract.

There's only one thing to worry about right now, and that's returning to the playoffs.

"I've never been a guy to speak about contracts," Rolle said. "I let my play do the campaigning for me. That's always the way I approach the game. I've never been a guy to play this game for money, although I do appreciate the money. Obviously, you know, it's very well-deserved. I feel like it's well within our rights. I always play this game with passion. I play it because I can.

"I play it for the less fortunate ... As far as the contract, I don't believe in worrying about that. I've never believed in worrying about that. I'm a big believer, I have huge faith in God. He's always been on my side. So I feel like if I just go out there and play ball, everything else will take care of itself. And it will."

Rolle and general manager Jerry Reese haven't discussed a new contract, Rolle said.

"Directly, no," he said. "And to be honest with you, I really don't wanna hear anything about a contract right now. If they come to me as far as an extension, or they really want to do something, that's fine. Obviously I'm gonna entertain it. But while I'm playing, I just like to play. I like to stay focused. I like to keep my eye on the prize and just keep my head forward and just keep grinding."
