Hell's Kitchen Electrical Shop Removes Signs That Raised Eyebrows From Window

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An electrical shop in Hell's Kitchen has removed signs from its storefront that have been raising some eyebrows.

When 1010 WINS' Juliet Papa visited Schacht Electrical Supply on West 39th Street Tuesday she saw two signs asking for donations to help a 3-year-old girl with brain cancer and another raffling off a rolling tool box.

But there was no sign of any of the posters that some people found sexist, Papa reported.

The New York Daily News reported one of the signs in question read, "Women have really good taste in money."

Another sign reportedly made a reference to a sex act.

When Papa asked Mark, who has been filling in as manager, what happened to the signs he responded, "We got one for the little girl, but the other one came down, it seems to offend people. It had nothing to do with women."

Mark said he's received phone calls from people telling him to keep the signs up."I'm like, 'Well, I have no control of that,'" Mark said.

Papa asked customers what they think of the situation.

"They should be taken out if they're offensive, so they took them out," one customer said.

"No comment," another customer said.
