2 Men Arrested In Connection With Brutal Attack On Aspiring Model In Crown Heights

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two men were arrested Thursday and one remains at large in connection with the vicious attack of a woman in Brooklyn that was caught on surveillance video.

Hassan Dees, 24 of the Bronx and Kiah Morain, 24, of Brooklyn were both charged with assault and robbery in connection with the attack on aspiring model Gwendolyn Reyes, 21 on Oct. 2.

A third person of interest, identified as Douglas Sanjae, 25, is wanted for questioning, police said.

After the attack, Reyes told CBS 2's Hazel Sanchez it's still difficult to understand why three men would attack her, beating her as she lay helpless on the ground, all just to take her purse and cell phone.

"They didn't say nothing," she said. "They just rushed me."

The brutal attack happened around 2:30 a.m.

Reyes was walking on Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights when she said the three men jumped her out of nowhere, punching her in the face multiple times.

"I remember the whole attack," she said. "Then them leaving me, I remember them dragging me and then I start yelling for someone from help me and that's when I noticed there was blood coming from my face, but I didn't know where from my face."

She was taken to Methodist Hospital with a broken nose and lacerations to her face.

"I found out I had a broken nose and two sets of stitches," she said. "The whole entire time, I'm thinking about my future because this one split moment, you know, I felt could change the rest of my life as far as my career is concerned."

Surveillance cameras got clear pictures of the suspects as they escaped the scene.

Reyes said it's still difficult for her to watch the video of the attack and that her father still has nightmares about it.

She's now waiting to see if she'll need plastic surgery to repair her nose.
