Reward Offered In Stabbing Death Of Westchester County Woman

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A reward is being offered in connection with the death of an elderly Westchester County woman whose body was found by police inside her home.

Officers discovered the body of 76-year-old Linda Misek-Falkoff inside her home on Grandview Avenue in Pleasantville back on Oct. 30 after her mail carrier noticed mail piling up and called police.

"The officer found that the front door to the house was unlocked and he entered," said George Longworth, commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Public Safety. "He discovered a woman deceased within. It was apparent the woman had been dead for at least several days."

Police said she had been stabbed to death and believe it happened about a week before her body was found. Her death was ruled a homicide last week by the Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office.

Officials said she was a widow with no children and neighbors said she lived alone.

"Her husband passed away a few years ago, but they were very reclusive people," neighbor Rosanna Fama said.

Detectives said there is no evidence of a break-in and no motive.

New York State Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the New York State Crime Stoppers hot line at 1-866-313-TIPS (8477) or visit http://nyscrimestoppers.org.
