11/23: CBS2 Sunday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

It's shaping up to be a nice day out there this afternoon! Temps have been rising steadily, and we'll be topping out in the mid 50s with a mix of sun and clouds. Get out and enjoy it, though, because rain is on the way to start your work week.

Here's the rundown: Temps will actually rise overnight with rain moving in late. Rain will continue through the morning commute, heavy at times, and begin to taper off around the lunch hour from southwest to northeast. If it weren't for the rain, though, wow! It definitely will feel spring-like as high temps reach the upper 60s tomorrow, likely even hitting the 70 mark in some central New Jersey locations! Hold on to your hats, though, as winds will be gusting up to 35 to 40 mph at times in and around the city, with possibly up to 50-mph gusts out on far eastern Long Island.

Clears out for Tuesday, and high temps drop back down into the mid 50s. As for the busy holiday travel day, we'll have to keep an eye on a coastal storm that looks to bring a cold rain to the area. Be sure to check back for updates on that and, of course, your Thanksgiving forecast!
