New Yorkers Share Their Thanksgiving Fails

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Ah, Thanksgiving.

A time for family, food, football and epic fails.

1010 WINS' John Montone went out in Tribeca to ask people to share their Thanksgiving disaster stories.

Marlan said his mother had prepared a feast and then his stepfather showed up without the one thing he was supposed to bring -- the turkey.

"She just smiled," Marlan said. "You know that smile that says, 'We'll talk about this later.' I was scared for him for a while, but they did OK and they're still married after all these years."

Another man told Montone he cooked his turkey to perfection, sliced it, had it on a platter and that's when it all went downhill.

"I dropped the whole thing by accident," he said. "Just fumbled the turkey. It flipped and hit the floor that quick -- one, two, three."

He then went out, bought another bird, cooked it and served it at 10 o'clock at night, Montone reported.

Another man said, "The biggest mess up I've seen is my family going to the wrong house, in the wrong city on Thanksgiving an hour and a half away."

They showed up at Aunt Theresa's front door just as she was leaving to go to the correct relative's house, Montone reported.

Connie admitted she cooked the turkey one year without removing the plastic bag of frozen giblets from the bird.

"It was disgusting," Connie said. "The inside of the turkey turned it a kind of plastic mush. I remember sitting around the table as I carved the turkey and out came these frozen plastic bags of giblets. It was very embarrassing."
