It hasn't been a very good year for New York sports franchises, but it's important not to get lost in the moment. As we get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving, let's recognize what our favorite teams have given us -- whether in years past, in the present or in the years to come:

Your team has been competitive far more often than not. That's not something to be taken for granted, even if you root for the richest team in baseball.

Mets

Matt Harvey and Co. have given you hope for the future. This franchise has fallen on hard times, but good things are right around the corner.

You've celebrated two Super Bowl titles in recent memory. It could be a lot worse.

The season's almost over. (Seriously, that's all I've got.)

Knicks

Bringing in Phil Jackson might not pay off right away, but next summer's free-agency crop could change everything for this franchise. There is a glimmer of hope. Also, Carmelo Anthony is one of the best players to ever wear a Knicks uniform. Enjoy him.

Nets

Your team is relevant again, and that in and of itself is a big deal. Moving to Brooklyn has completely revitalized the Nets.

Rangers

You were able to watch your team play in the Stanley Cup Final, and the Rangers are still in position to contend for the next few years.

Islanders

After years of ownership uncertainty and rebuilding, your Isles have arrived. Welcome to the big time.

Devils

It's no secret that you've been able to witness multiple championships and some of the greatest talents to ever play in the NHL. Eventually the clock strikes 12, but you've had it pretty darn good.

Red Bulls

You've been patiently waiting for your team to get the recognition it deserves, and now that recognition is here. Perhaps the Red Bulls will even be able to pull through and move past the conference finals.
