3 Killed, 5 Wounded In Separate Newark Shootings

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Three people were killed and five others were injured in separate shootings in Newark this weekend, authorities said.

Lisa Parker, 36, of Orange, died at the scene following a shooting at 11:30 p.m. Saturday on South Orange Avenue, police said. Three other victims were in stable condition Sunday at University Hospital. The shooting occurred at a nightclub, CBS2 reported.

There is no word on a motive or whether police know who was behind the violence.

Newark police also responded to a shooting around 9 p.m. on Saturday on the 700 block of South 20th Street in the city's West Ward. Cops arrived to find Zaire Williams, 23, of Irvington, dead from a gunshot wound.

On Sunday, Acting Prosecutor Carolyn Murray said one person was shot and two others were injured on the 600 block of South 20th Street.

The two who were injured were listed in stable condition. The third was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at University Hospital, the prosecutor's office said.

The shootings happened all near the same area. Chief of Detectives Anthony Ambrose said it remains unclear if the shootings are related.

The Essex County Sheriff's Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
