Jury To Hear Closing Arguments In 'Frying Pan Murder' Trial

FREEHOLD, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The trial of a New Jersey man charged with murdering his wife with a frying pan is soon expected to go to the jury.

A Monmouth County jury is expected to hear closing arguments this week in the case against Patrick Allen.

Allen, a 47-year-old former securities salesman, is accused of killing Kimberly Allen in their Middletown home back in 2011.

Prosecutors allege Allen had been hiding from his wife the fact that the family was hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and their house was in danger of foreclosure.

Prosecutors said Allen struck his wife with the frying pan and strangled her after an argument broke out when she learned of their financial woes.

Allen's attorney claims his client was about to come into some money that would have held off the foreclosure, contradicting the prosecution's theory of motive.
