12/13: CBS2 Saturday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good afternoon!

Skies cleared out nicely this morning and today marks the start of a warming trend for us over the next several days. The coastal low that parked itself over the northeast this week has finally moved on and high pressure is building into the area. Lucky for us, it's looking good heading into next week!

Expect highs in the low 40s this afternoon for NYC, with a mix of sun and clouds. Temps drop to around the freezing mark tonight, a little colder for the NW suburbs, all under partly cloudy skies. The Geminid meteor shower peaks tonight, so there's definitiely a good chance of catching a glimpse, especially for those away from the city lights!

Sunday will be even better, with lots of sunshine and temps topping in the mid 40s. This trend continues right into the start of the work week, with mostly sunny skies for your Monday. We bump those temps up once again, into the upper 40s. I think some locations will definitely see the lower 50s, especially on Tuesday.

Overnight Tuesday into Wednesday will be our next chance of some showers. It doesn't look like anything more than that as of now, but we'll definitely keep an eye on it. Check back in later and enjoy the rest of your Saturday... it's 12/13/14 if you haven't noticed!
