Knicks' Carmelo Anthony: 'The Fans Are Dying, We're Dying'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Knicks fell to an embarrassing 5-26 on Thursday with an uninspiring effort against the Wizards at Madison Square Garden.

Carmelo Anthony feels for you, the fan, who is suffering through this mess of a season.

He also feels for himself and his teammates.

"I feel what the fans are feeling," the franchise player, who scored 34 points in the loss, told reporters. "The fans are dying, we're dying. We're out there, we're not producing. We didn't expect, I didn't expect, to be sitting at 5-26. So as much as I feel for the fans, I feel for us going through it, too.

"I don't expect nobody to feel sorry for us. I don't expect nobody to feel sorry for me."

New York has now dropped 16 of 17 and is only slightly better -- percentage-wise -- than the league-worst 4-23 76ers.

"We have spurts throughout the course of the game where we are showing something, showing that we're getting it and we're focused and we have the energy to go out and do it," Anthony continued. "But there are times where we show that we're not even out there on the basketball court ... We gotta start trying to put a whole game together."

But not to worry, Knicks fans. In case you missed it, team president Phil Jackson tweeted on Christmas Eve that 2015 will be a better year for this franchise than 2014 was.

If you say so, Phil.

The 'Bockers will look to snap their six-game losing streak on Saturday when they take on the Kings in Sacramento.
