Authorities: Man Robs Acquaintance He Met Online

HOBOKEN, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Hoboken man stands accused of robbing a man he had befriended online.

Joshua Aviles, 25, and the victim had agreed to meet for drinks late Tuesday night, police told NJ.com.

The victim said he noticed a car following them as they walked along Jefferson Street in Hoboken, and he said two women soon jumped out of the vehicle and attacked him. The man tried to chase after the women when they took his backpack, but he claimed Aviles punched him in the face and then got in the car with the two women.

After the victim showed police an online photo of the suspect, a city police officer recognized him as Aviles. He was arrested Wednesday when he showed up for an unrelated court hearing.

The two women have not been identified, NJ.com reported.
