Police: Long Island Woman Involved In Head-On Crash With 2 Kids In Car Was Drunk

ROOSEVELT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Police say a 44-year-old woman was drunk and had two young boys in her car when she crashed head-on with another vehicle on Long Island.

The crash happened Friday afternoon in Roosevelt.

Nassau County Police say Tawanda Roberts was driving south when she crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a Honda.

Newsday reports the driver of the Honda was taken to a hospital with multiple injuries.

Roberts was arrested at a hospital after being treated for minor injuries.

The two boys, ages 9 and 12, were not injured. They were released to a family member.

Roberts was arrested on charges including reckless endangerment, aggravated driving while intoxicated, vehicular assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

No information on a lawyer for Roberts was available.
