1/10: CBS2 Saturday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

BRRRRRR!!!! That pretty much sums up this afternoon around here, as highs are struggling to reach the low to mid 20s. We're going for a high of 22 today in the city, and those in the far NW suburbs will stay in the teens. With brisk west winds at 10-15 mph, it will feel more like the teens and single digits for your Saturday. Be sure to wear A LOT of layers if you're heading outside!

We drop down into the teens overnight under partly cloudy skies. Winds diminish slightly, but chills will remain in the single digits. Sunday will bring increasing clouds ahead of our next system. After today, it'll feel much better despite highs only in the mid 30s. At least we'll make it above the freezing mark!

Late Sunday and into Monday is our next round of precip, and it looks to be a wintry mess. As of now, looks like most will start out as some snow during the early morning hours, transitioning to a mix as temps rise to freezing. Areas closer to the coast, including the city, should change over to all rain during the day on Monday with highs in the upper 30s. There is the possibility of a period of ice in some spots during the changeover.

The good news is it's a fast mover, clearing out for Tuesday. We'll see mostly sunny skies, but temps drop back down into the 20s behind Monday's cold front.
