Volunteers Expand Search For Missing Westchester Teen

SCARSDALE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Volunteers are expanding their search for a 16-year-old Westchester girl missing since Jan. 2.

As WCBS 880's Monica Miller reported, Aubrey Graf-Daniels doesn't know Christine Ji Woo Kang, but she's organized about 200 volunteers to hand out fliers with a picture of the Edgemont High School student throughout Manhattan.

"We're a very close-knit community. So when we heard that she was missing, everyone wants to do anything they can to help," she said.

Captain B.J. Ryan, with the Greenburgh Police Department, said Ji Woo Kang had a fight with her parents at their home and was last seen at about 11 p.m. exiting Grand Central Station near Lexington Avenue.

"The young lady did not bring her cellphone with her, so we're at a disadvantage as far as tracking her cellphone," Ryan said. "To our knowledge, she didn't take any money with her nor any credit cards."

Ryan said minor arguments with her family were not uncommon.

"Usually these walks she would take after a family disagreement she would walk around the neighborhood, the Edgemont area and come back about an hour or two later," Ryan said.

"If it was something going on with her parents, I feel we should all be there because she might need some help with herself and her emotions and everything," Edgemont resident Tisha Maldonado told CBS2's Steve Langford.

"It's a little cold out here in the city today so hopefully she's somewhere warm and safe and hope she comes home soon," Greenburgh resident Christopher Keenan said.

Ji Woo Kang was last seen wearing a green shirt, pajama pants, Ugg boots and no coat.
