Police Seek Man Who Allegedly Impersonated Cop, Raped Masseuse In East New York

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who allegedly impersonated a police officer and raped a woman last year in East New York.

The man responded on Oct. 26 to a Craigslist ad for a half-hour massage at the Linden Motor Inn, police said. After receiving the massage, the suspect identified himself as a police officer, flashed an "FDA" badge and then forced the 25-year-old woman to have sex with him, cops said.

The suspect then stole the victim's cellphone and an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing in a black Mercedes Benz, authorities said.

Police have released surveillance video of the suspect.

He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with yellow lettering, light blue ripped jeans and black sneakers.

Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-8477 or to submit a tip online at NYPDCrimeStoppers.com. All communications are kept confidential.
