Stabbing Incident Leaves 1 Man Dead, 1 Hospitalized Under Police Guard In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- One man was killed and another was injured late Thursday afternoon in a stabbing incident, in a building just steps from Bronx Park.

Officers were dispatched at 4:51 p.m. to the lobby of the building at 2819 Barker Ave. in the Bronx, between Arnow Avenue and Britton Street, police said.

They found a 34-year-old man at the scene unresponsive with a stab wound to the neck, and a 22-year-old man with slash wounds to the head, police said.

The older man was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not released Thursday night pending family notification.

The younger man was taken to Montefiore Medical Center for treatment, police said. The man was being held under police custody, but police did not specify whether he was believed to have stabbed the 34-year-old man.

The investigation into the incident continued late Thursday.
