Suffolk County Police Lt. Robert Edwards said the victims took the crimes personally.

"What would happen is generally, the woman would go to visit someone and she'd have to walk a distance from the car to where the tombstones were and when she'd come back, she'd find either the window broken and the purse taken or someone would just lift the purse from an unlocked car," Edwards said.

The lieutenant said the three are unemployed and would steal cash from purses and leave the credit cards.
