1/18 CBS2 Sunday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia
CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good afternoon!

Hopefully you were able to stay in earlier this morning, because the roadways were a complete mess! With temps hovering in the upper 20s and lower 30s across the area as precipitation moved in, freezing rain became an issue, coating any untreated surfaces with ice.

Temps will be climbing today, and any leftover freezing rain should change to plain rain. The last freezing rain advisories will expire early this afternoon. Expect a steady rain to continue into this evening, heavy at times. It looks like a general 1 to 1.5 inches for most, with less farther north and west.

Rain will move out from west to east this evening, with skies becoming partly cloudy overnight. Temps dip back down into the low to mid 30s around the city.

We're looking at a mix of sun and clouds for MLK Day, with a high around 40. It will turn breezy behind a cold front however, with a cool northwest wind at 15 to 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph.

Tuesday definitely looks like the pick of the week, with near normal temps in the upper 30s and mostly sunny skies. Clouds will be on the increase late in the day, as some snow showers move in overnight.

Be sure to check back in soon for the latest on that. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
