Mets Making Big Changes To Scoreboard At Citi Field
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- This is big.
The New York Mets announced on Monday that they would be increasing the size of their... scoreboard.
The franchise said a new high-definition Daktronics LED screen will be coming to Citi Field in time for its home opener on April 13. The center-field display will be 62 percent bigger at 5,670 square feet.
The Mets said the new scoreboard -- at a whopping 54 feet tall and 105 feet wide -- would be one of the 10 largest in MLB. Daktronics will also add new digital ribbon screens in left field, including a strikeout-counting "K-Board."
"As we look forward to a great season on the field in 2015, these significantly bigger and higher resolution video boards are state-of-the-art in size and LED technology and reinforce our commitment to provide our fans a superior experience when attending games at Citi Field," Mets COO Jeff Wilpon said in a statement.
The Mets, oft-criticized for their payroll, made the announcement on the same day NL East-rival Washington signed pitcher Max Scherzer to a seven-year, $210 million deal.
