Long Island Woman In Court On Leandra's Law Charge After Crashing SUV Into Home
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island woman appeared in court Thursday upon being charged under Leandra's Law, after police said she was drunk when she crashed her SUV into a home with her daughter in the vehicle.
Arlene Lamb-Palermo, 48, of Hauppauge first struck a tree and then crashed her SUV into the living room of a house on Sky View Court around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Her 15-year-old daughter was in the vehicle at the time of the crash, police said. She suffered a minor injury and was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.
The owner of the home said his two children, wife and six of his kids' friends were inside the house at the time of the crash, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported. No one inside the home was hurt.
He called Lamb-Palermo a good neighbor and said he wishes her the best, Hall reported.
Lamb-Palermo is charged with aggravated DWI with a child 15 years old or younger (Leandra's Law), driving while intoxicated, and endangering the welfare of a child.
She was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
