2/7: CBS2 Saturday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good Afternoon!

Hopefully your weekend is off to a great start! Clouds will rule today as a frontal boundary sets up to our north. Some passing snow showers are likely, especially north of the city. Mostly cloudy for everyone else, with a high of 38 in NYC.

With clouds remaining in place, it won't be as cold tonight. Lows will drop to around the freezing mark in the city and mid to upper 20s for the suburbs.

Sunday will feature much of the same... mostly cloudy skies with some scattered rain and snow showers early. We get a push of mild air and temps will top out in the low 40s around the city. North of the city looks to stay colder, with highs in the 30s. Overnight Sunday into Monday will see more widespread precip move in.

Its a tricky forecast for Monday, as once again we will be dealing with a battle between warm and cold. As of now, it looks like the Monday morning commute could be a messy one, with a wintry mix. Depending on where that line sets up will determine where the icing concerns are.

As cold air moves in during the day Monday, it looks like everyone will see a change to snow heading into Monday evening. The highest totals will be north of the city, with much less heading south where only a trace is likely. The system then pulls away Monday night and the sunshine returns for Tuesday.

Be sure to check back in often this weekend as a slight change in track will shift these snowfall totals. We'll be able to fine tune Monday's storm tonight and tomorrow!
