Damien Escobar Brings Hip-Hop Flair To Violin

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- From New York City to China to the United Kingdom to our nation's capital, contemporary violinist Damien Escobar has performed across the globe.

Escobar's music blends classical music with hip-hop.

"I tell people all the time, it's my neighborhood where I come from, and it's going to Juilliard on the weekends as a kid," the Jamaica, Queens, native told CBS2's Andrea Grymes. "I was married to Dr. Dre and Bach at the same time, and that's kind of just what came out."

Escobar, who graduated from Juilliard at 13 years old, is performing Friday night at The Cutting Room in New York City.
