New York GOP Mocks De Blasio With 'Fifty Shades Of Bill' Poster

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- New York State Republicans say Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio is like the submissive character in "Fifty Shades of Grey,'' dominated by the Rev. Al Sharpton.

The NYGOP released a poster through Twitter Tuesday that spoofs the popular movie. It has Sharpton in the Christian Grey role and the mayor's face superimposed over an image of the submissive Anastasia. His head rests on Sharpton's shoulder.

"Fifty Shades of Bill'' is printed in large letters. Other phrases appear below: "Tied up by his habitual lateness. --- Dominated by the duties of his office. --- Handcuffed by his poor management of the NYPD.''

"A Working Families Party Production" appears at the bottom of the poster with the words "Directed by Al Sharpton."

On the NYGOP's website, the group calls the film the "movie phenomenon that's sweeping the country" and said "New York City's mayor wanted to get in on the fun."

GOP spokesman David Laska told the Daily News that both the movie's heroine and the mayor have completely ceded control over their situation to outside forces.

The mayor's office declined to comment.
