LeBron James Not Thrilled His 10-Year-Old Son Is Already Getting College Offers

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- There's no doubt about it. His kid's got game.

But LeBron James wants everyone to back off a bit.

The NBA's best player sounds like a proud papa when he talks about his 10-year-old son's abilities on the basketball court. He just doesn't like the fact that LeBron James Jr. is already being recruited by colleges.

"Yeah, he's already got some offers from colleges," James told CBS Detroit on Tuesday. "It's pretty crazy. It should be a violation. You shouldn't be recruiting 10-year-old kids."

One look at a viral YouTube video that was closing in on 4 million views as of Wednesday afternoon and it's understandable why some people are already seeing dollar signs. LeBron Jr. has got great hands, sees the court exceptionally well and appears to be on his way to becoming an offensive force.

"He plays just like I did," James said. "He has great awareness, and he'd rather pass first and set guys up. Most kids nowadays just want to score."

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers entered play Wednesday one-half game out of first place in the Central Division. The two-time NBA champion and four-time league MVP is averaging 25.7 points per game this season.
