As CBS2's Matt Kozar reported, the suspect approached the girl as she walked alone down the street near East Tremont Avenue and Southern Boulevard around 6:25 p.m., grabbed her and threatened to kill her if she screamed, police said.

The suspect attempted to force the girl inside a building at 901 E. 179th St., but the door was locked. He then tried to force her inside 915 E. 179th St. where he again was unsuccessful.

The girl fled as the suspect ran in the opposite direction, police said.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male in his early to mid-teens and around 5-foot-2. Police have released surveillance footage of the suspect, where he is seen wearing a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt, dark shoes and tan pants.
