Crates Of Live Chickens Falls Off Truck On Staten Island

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Why did the chicken cross the road? To get out of traffic after falling off a truck.

About 20 crates of live chickens fell off a truck just after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday near the corner of Hylan Boulevard and Steuben Street on Staten Island, police said.

Some traffic delays were reported in the area as crews worked to clean up the street, CBS2 reported.

The birds were eventually gathered up and brought to the 122nd Precinct so the owner could pick them up, 1010 WINS reported.

The chickens were on their way from New Jersey to Brooklyn before the incident.
