Reports: Families Of Sandy Hook School Shooting Victims Suing Nancy Lanza's Estate

NEWTOWN, CONN. (CBSNewYork) -- Families of nine Newtown school shooting victims have reportedly filed lawsuits against the estate of the gunman's mother.

According to published reports, the lawsuits contend Nancy Lanza failed to properly secure the rifle her son Adam used to kill 20 children and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School back in 2012, CBS 2 reported.

The lawsuits seek to collect on Nancy Lanza's homeowner's insurance.

Adam Lanza killed his mother at their home before carrying out the school shooting and committing suicide.
