Police: Suspects Sought In Connection With Violent Bronx Robbery

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for suspects in connection with a violent robbery in the Bronx.

It happened on March 12 in front of an apartment building on College Avenue.

An 18-year-old woman was approached by three unknown individuals who demanded she hand over her cell phone as she tried to get into her building, police said.

When she refused, one of the suspects grabbed her from behind, put her in a chokehold and pushed her against a railing as a second suspect tried to grab the phone from her hand, police said.

But the suspects weren't able to get her phone and took off. The victim was not hurt, police said.

The entire incident was caught on surveillance video.

Police described the second suspect as a black man, about 5'7" with a heavy build. He was seen wearing blue jeans, a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, a knit cap and a dark-colored jacket.
