Trendiest Home Decor On Display At Architectural Digest Home Show

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The best in home design has gone on display at the Architectural Digest Home Show, with everything from the latest furnishings to technology.

As CBS2's Emily Smith reported, the colors, shapes and finishes that will define 2015 were on display at the largest show of its kind in the United States, at Pier 94 along the Hudson River at the edge of Midtown.

"This is what's coming, and its styles range from contemporary, traditional, country to urban," said show director of marketing Michael Rabatin.

One set of living room furniture by Koket on display at the show made an appearance in the movie "Fifty Shades of Grey."

"This sofa was part of (Anastasia Steele's) sitting room, and you will see Christian (Grey) sitting on it looking over at her," said Janet Morais of Koket.

An Eternity chandelier from "Fifty Shades of Grey" was also on display. It is made of crystal, and is also available in black crystal for a more dramatic look. It will cost up to $12,000.

Architectural Digest is the title sponsor of the event. CBS2 sat down with Architectural Digest editor in chief Margaret Russell.

"Actually, we find a lot of ideas here that end up in the magazine – so it's the perfect source for us as well," Russell said.

Some of the items on display can also be purchased at the show. A record player is available, but it is probably not the one you remember – it costs $20,000.

But the makers said the record player also streams audio and is high-end and handcrafted.

How about a luxury bed for your pet – something designed to blend seamlessly with your own furnishings? Leslie Hemming, owner of Pup & Kit, had one on display handmade from solid walnut – for $679.

And how about a ping-pong table that costs about $30,000, or a pool table that will run you $69,000? They are made in Italy, from crystal.

"An average ping-pong table costs about $500 – something you put in your basement," said Gregg Brodarick of the BD Collection. "This is luxury. This is Italian design."

And for the latest in kitchenware, an American-made stove that connects to your smartphone is available. You can cue up any recipe, and the oven follows cooking instructions.

The smart oven will cost you up to $12,000.

The show runs through Sunday. It will cost $40 for general admission at the door, or $30 online.
