James Corden Set To Debut As New Host Of 'Late Late Show' On CBS

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- James Corden was set Monday night to make his debut as the host of The Late Late Show on CBS.

The 36-year-old left his successful acting career behind in Britain to move to Los Angeles where he has been rehearsing for the past 10 weeks.

On the big screen James recently starred in 'Into The Woods' showing off his acting and singing chops, CBS2's Jill Nicolini reported.

He did the same on Broadway in 'The History Boys' and won a Tony award in 2012 for his role in 'One Man, Two Guvnors.'

He also wrote, created, and starred in his own British TV show which all helped him nab his new spot as a television host.

"We are just going to try to make a show that is silly and fun and were just going to try our hardest to make you laugh," Corden said.

Corden said he is terrified, but hopes to promote more organic conversation by bringing all his guests out together at the same to take a seat on his couch.

Mila Kunis and Tom Hanks are the first two guests on the show, and it seems as though Mila may be opening up about her personal life.

All of the other late night hosts have reached out to wish Corden luck, including his predecessor Craig Ferguson.

"Craig just said that he is here if I need him, just go for it and be myself, which is terrifying because I'm not sure if that is a very good thing," Corden said.

"He is so intent on making this show unpredictable and I hope that we can make a show that you turn up, see us every night, and not always know what happened. That's what he can bring to late night," Executive Producer, Ben Winston said.

Corden hinted that CBS President and Chief Executive Officer Leslie Moonves could make an appearance.

"You might even spot a cameo of him in our first show. That's an exclusive. I shouldn't tell you that, but it's out there now," he said.

Other guests this week include; Kerry Washington, Chris Pine, Will Ferrel, Kevin Hart, David Beckham, and Claire Danes.

You can watch the premier of the new Late Late Show with James Corden at 12:35 a.m. on CBS2.
