Rashad Jennings: Giants Will 'Have A Dominant Offense' In 2015

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Giants were a major disappointment in 2014.

They finished 6-10, missing the playoffs for the third consecutive year, and the offense was too inconsistent to make up for a brutal defense. Big Blue ranked 10th in yards and 13th in points per game.

But despite Jerry Reese's quiet offseason, running back Rashad Jennings believes that New York will score a lot more points in 2015.

"I think we're going to have a dominant offense," Jennings told reporters. "Eli (Manning) is really comfortable in the offense now, being able to control a lot from the line of scrimmage."

Manning is coming off an excellent campaign and, barring an injury in training camp, reigning Rookie of the Year Odell Beckham Jr. will be healthy for the start of the season. And veteran Victor Cruz, the forgotten man, should form a dynamic duo with the talented 22-year-old.

Complementing Jennings in the backfield will be running back Shane Vereen, who signed with the G-Men earlier this month.

"It's going to be big," Jennings said. "Any time you can add depth at any position, any room, it's valuable. He's a guy that's been on a team that knows the recipe of winning. We extract from that. We'll be able to add. Also, he's a great catcher from the backfield. So that's going to entice the coordinator to throw to the running backs more.

"So I'm happy with that. He's a good player and from everything I understand he's a good teammate. I'm glad to have him aboard."

Jennings insists that he's not worried about the former Patriot taking snaps from him. In the end, it's all about what's best for the football team.

"Your role is to make plays, so no, it's not going to change my role at all," Jennings said. "...Playing time is irrelevant. All we want to do is win, so however we see fit for different players to fit in on certain plays, downs, situations, then we'll move from there ... To battle injuries we gotta have guys back there. It doesn't matter who starts, who finishes.

"It's about us pushing the chains forward, scoring touchdowns and winning games."
