Woman Claims Huntington Dry Cleaners Lost Daughter's Wedding Dress

HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island mother claims her dry cleaners lost her daughter's wedding gown.

In February, Susan Davis said she went to Evergreen Cleaners in Huntington to pick up her daughter's Jesus Peiro beaded wedding gown.

Instead of getting back her daughter's dress, the cleaners gave her someone else's gown, Davis said.

"The woman who actually does the wedding dresses said, 'I remember doing your daughter's,' but they just didn't seem to have records that could help us locate my daughter's dress," Davis told WCBS 880's Sophia Hall. "I guess as soon as people pick things up he wipes things out of his computer."

Davis said someone likely picked up what they thought was their wedding dress but never looked inside the box and just put it away in storage.

She hopes that person opens up the box, sees that it's the wrong gown and comes forward.

"I'm trying to reach out to say if you have a dress that you picked up at this cleaner in the last few months please look at it, please open it," said Davis, whose daughter got married in August. "It's a special memory and it's something that we wanted to keep."

Her daughter's initials, "J.A.A.," are sewn into the dress.

The owner of the dry cleaners did not respond to Hall's request for a comment.
