Some Rangers Fans Upset With Alleged NHL Playoff-WNBA Ticket Bundling

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Some New York Rangers fans are giving the team a chilly reception after learning about what they're calling a ticket pricing plan for the upcoming NHL playoffs.

They're upset that a strip of tickets will be bundled with tickets to the New York Liberty, the WNBA team that also plays at Madison Square Garden, 1010 WINS reported.

"You had to purchase Liberty tickets as well, we don't know how many or what the deal is," longtime Rangers fan Bruce Regenstreich told 1010 WINS.

Regenstreich said he's annoyed and doesn't want to shell out money for tickets he doesn't want.

"It's like sports extortion," Regenstreich said. "I'm annoyed enough that I may not be interested in getting their playoff tickets, not that they're going to miss me, but if every Ranger fan felt the same way maybe they would get the message."

However, an MSG Spokesperson issued the following statement Tuesday in response to claims made by some fans.

"Rangers fans can purchase playoff tickets without any additional events. We are currently offering a promotion on Liberty tickets, but it is not a requirement."
