Gov. Christie's Son Set To Intern With Mets This Summer

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Chris Christie may never get to live out his dream of being the general manager of the Mets, but he can now live vicariously through his son.

The New Jersey governor's son, Andrew, is set to intern with the Amazin's this summer.

"The Mets annually take a group of about 20 college students for summer internship opportunities that includes working in many different departments throughout the organization, and Andrew Christie is among those students this summer," the team said in a statement.

The Republican politician is a diehard Mets fans.

"I would love to be general manager of the Mets," Christie told WFAN co-hosts Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton last May. "And if (general manager) Sandy (Alderson) would put his crap in boxes and get out of there now, I'd be happy to go right now if they needed me."

Christie also told Boomer & Carton in January that if the Mets make the playoffs this season, he'll party like he's never partied before.

"If I'm in Fred Wilpon's box and the Mets get into the playoffs or win a playoff game, I'm hugging everything in sight," Christie told the radio duo. "I'm hugging the people serving us the drinks. I'm hugging everybody."

Andrew, 21, is a junior at Princeton University. He plays on the school's baseball team.
