Elderly Couple Found Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide In Elmwood Park, NJ

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A 100-year-old Bergen County man and his 88-year-old wife were found dead inside their Bergen County home Monday morning, and authorities are investigating the case as a likely murder-suicide.

The bodies of Michael and Rosalia Juskin were discovered on the first floor of their Spruce Street home in Elmwood Park, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said on Twitter. But further details on the deaths and the investigation have not been disclosed.

Police officers responded to the home after a relative of the couple called police. That person apparently was not at the house when the deaths occurred.

"A family member reported that he found two of his relatives inside deceased," Elmwood Park Police Chief Michael Foligno said.

That relative, according to Foligno, was the couple's son, 1010 WINS' Rebecca Granet reported.

Neighbors, visibly upset, crowded around the house Monday following the discovery around 9 a.m.

Residents described the Juskins as a nice couple. But Deroda, who lives next door, said Michael had some mental problems, adding she's not surprised, Granet reported.

"He didn't want medicine, he would sometimes drink vodka," she said.

Deroda said the couple's daughter wanted Rosalia to move in with her down in Florida, but she refused.

"The daughter was saying 'Mom come to me because we know he's not stable,'" she said.

The case remains under investigation.
