1 Suspect Held In Beating, Robbery Of 65-Year-Old Man In Bronx Building

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- One suspect was in custody Thursday evening in connection with the brutal mugging of a 65-year-old man that was caught on surveillance video in the Bronx.

Jose Virola, 22, was in custody in connection with the attack on March 30, police said. The search continued Thursday evening for the other two suspects.

The video shows the suspects following the victim into his apartment building on East 167th Street around 11:30 p.m. that night, police said.

In the video, the victim is seen opening the door for the suspects, who walk in and corner him before getting into a scuffle.

One of the suspects pulled out a gun while the victim tried to fight off the attackers.

The suspects ended up stealing a bag of groceries before running off, police said.

The victim suffered a broken nose and cuts to his face. He was treated at a local hospital and released.
