Police: Teen, Preteen Boys On Bikes Robbed Man In Central Park

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Monday were searching for a group of preteen and teenage suspects who robbed a man of his cellphone in Central Park earlier this month.

The 29-year-old man was jogging at 106th Street and West Drive in Central Park around 8:20 p.m., when nine suspects pulled up on bicycles and demanded his iPhone, police said.

The suspects then tried to attempt to punch and grab the man, but he got away, police said. No weapons were displayed and no one was injured, police said.

The suspects were described as boys between the ages of 12 and 17, police said. They were all riding bicycles at the time.

Police have released surveillance photos of two of the suspects, captured at 333 Central Park West.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
