Allergies Bothering You? Try These Great Indoor Activities In NYC

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — With spring finally upon us, there's no better time to get outside and take in the sights, especially in places like New York City. However, for millions of allergy suffers across the country, a trek across Central Park sounds more arduous than appealing. Thankfully, NYC has a number of fun indoor activities that won't negatively affect one's health.

Take a Bite out of the Big Apple

New York City is known the world over for its culinary delights, and the Gotham Market West gives foodies the opportunity to sample a variety of amazing dishes from nine different vendors within one indoor complex. You can grab a gluten-free salad from Indie Fresh before chowing down on a small plate delicacy from The Cannibal and a lamb shoulder burrito from Choza Taqueria. Finish by washing the whole thing down with delicious cold brew iced coffee from Blue Bottle Coffee.

Play a Real Life Video Game

Escape the Room offers its customers the chance to have a video game-style adventure without the game console. Players are placed within a room and given 60 minutes to solve a series of puzzles. Teammates must discover the meaning of some cryptic clues and find a number of carefully hidden objects in order to escape the room. The immersive puzzles are designed to be played by groups, so bring friends, co-workers or a significant other along for a one-of-a-kind bonding experience.

Get Cultured

New York City has a number of top flight museums that a person could lose himself in for hours. The New York Hall of Science features a raft of inactive exhibits that are as educational as they are fun. The Museum of Modern Art has one of the greatest and most varied collections of art in the country. The American Museum of Natural History offers guests the chance to observe the astounding wonders of our planet. No matter what a person's interests, NYC probably has a museum, or at the very least an exhibit, examining it in detail.

Relax like a Roman

After a spending a day taking in all of New York City's many cultural wonders, one may feel the need to get away from the hustle and bustle and decompress. The Aire Ancient Baths allows its customers to soak in massive pools of heated water while breathing in a host of pleasing aromas. One can also indulge in a four-handed massage, a restful nap on a heated stone slab or a sublime Red Wine Ritual that involves soaking in a tub full of antioxidant-rich red wine made with Spanish grapes. Heaven is in fact a place on Earth.

Take in a Show

One of the reasons New York is considered one of the world's great cultural hubs is because it's the home of Broadway, a group of 40 theaters that features plays and musicals by the world's greatest dramatists starring the finest performers working today. The Great White Way caters to all different tastes, so it doesn't matter if you're into classical drama, a zippy adaptation of a Hollywood blockbuster or an experimental show that will inspire hours of thoughtful debate—Broadway has it all.
