Amphibious vs. Ambidextrous

Craig had some good, innocent fun at the expense of some listeners on Monday when discussing the debut of A's pitcher Pat Venditte, who throws as both a left- and right-hander.

Knowing full well the vast difference between the definitions of the words "ambidextrous" (a person able to use their left and right hand equally well) and "amphibious" (related to living in, or suited for both land and water), Craig proceeded as if that knowledge was not privy to him, intentionally using the wrong word.  We call that a little radio hijinks.

Well, I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that the fine folks working for a newspaper called The East Oregonian were not attempting newspaper hijinks when they used amphibious in their headline (pictured).  Regardless, after seeing the headline, Craig was clearly feeling vindicated.

Craig's vindication, if you will, led to him feeling his oats a bit.  From there we got a history lesson of sorts, as Craigie broke down the clouded history of trigonometry.
