Lloyd Says She Wants To Help U.S. Women Defend World Cup Title In 2019

TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — New Jersey native and World Cup champion Carli Lloyd says she thinks she will return to defend the United States' title in four years.

The Delran native who scored three goals in the United States' victory over Japan in the Women's World Cup final said on "CBS This Morning" on Monday she feels good and expects to play again in 2019.

The 32-year-old added that she'll take one year at a time.

Lloyd said she's "incredibly proud" of the team and believes its legacy will be that dreams are achievable through hard work and sacrifice.

Lloyd is one of three New Jersey natives on the U.S. team that won a third World Cup victory Sunday and the first since 1999.

Christie Rampone is from Point Pleasant and Heather O'Reilly hails from East Brunswick.
