Dog Returned After Being Taken In Williamsburg, Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A dog that was taken in Williamsburg, Brooklyn this past weekend has been returned.

Surveillance video showed a blonde woman in a red shirt taking off with a small black Pomeranian named Suki on Sunday evening.

Guadalupe Garcia – the roommate of Suki's owner – went to Khim's Millennium Market Sunday and took Suki along while the dog's owners were out of the country. Garcia said she tied Suki's leash to a post just outside the entrance to the store.

A few minutes later, a lady in a red shirt is seen on the video bending down to pet the dog, linger over the flowers, then head inside to pay for them.

The woman comes back outside, appears to unhook the leash, looks around and scoops the pup up and walks off.

When Garcia exited the store a few minutes later, Suki was gone.

On Monday night, someone acting on behalf of the woman seen in the video returned the animal home. The person claimed the whole thing was a mistake and was not a dognapping, CBS2 reported.

There was no word late Monday on whether the dog's owner would press charges, CBS2 reported.
