Woman Rescued Seconds Before Car Exploded Into Flames On Long Island

HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A woman was rescued mere seconds before her vehicle exploded into flames Wednesday in Huntington.

Officials told WCBS 880's Sophia Hall that the woman suffered a medical emergency while she was driving the Subaru and crashed into a tree on Cold Spring Hills Road.

Her son, who was a passenger in the car, was able to pull his mother from the car before it burst into flames.

Bob Harrington was driving through the neighborhood when he saw the wreck and knew he had to help. Harrington, along with the driver's son, were able to pull the woman to safety.

"We sensed that it was going to be going up in flames eventually," Harrington said. "So we just wanted to get her away from the car."

The woman, who was not identified, is expected to be OK.
