As Training Camp Opens, Revis Talks About One Day Wearing A Jets Super Bowl Ring

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Darrelle Revis says he has no intentions of ever bringing the Super Bowl ring he won with the New England Patriots last February into the Jets' locker room.

However, that doesn't mean he will always be against the idea of showing off some bling.

"You'll see the New York Jets ring when we get it," Revis said Wednesday as the Jets reported to training camp.

Optimism is high in Florham Park, where the Jets will put a completely revamped roster to the test over the next month. Revis is in his second stint with New York after signing a five-year, $70 million contract with $39 million guaranteed during the offseason.

With a brand new secondary, a formidable defensive line, a slew of running backs and the team's best receiving corps in years, the Jets are poised to transform last season's 4-12 nightmare into a 2015 playoff spot.

But how far the Jets go will likely depend on what they get out of their quarterbacks. Enigmatic Geno Smith begins his third season as the starter, but there are no guarantees he will keep his job. If he falters, new head coach Todd Bowles has intimated that he won't wait around to make a change, considering he has veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick, a disciple of new coordinator Chan Gailey's offense, waiting in the wings.

"I think all the pieces that we have -- and what you see on paper -- it looks very appealing," Revis said. "At the same time, we go to really put the work in. We have a lot of young talent ... We just gotta continue to, at this time, just gel as a whole team and be very excited. It's a new season for us."

Revis said he expects the AFC East to be a war from start to finish, what with the defending league champs residing in New England, a familiar face now running a defense-heavy team in Buffalo and Miami benefiting from the maturation of several young players, including quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

"I feel like this would be the toughest division in the NFL," Revis said. "Just how all the pieces have moved: me being back here, Rex (Ryan) going to Buffalo, you have (Mike) Tannenbaum down in Miami. It's a lot of moving pieces."
