After Craig got through offering his commentary on the YES Network's broadcast team, Jerry Recco began his informative and entertaining update on a high note -- well, a high note if you're a Yankees fan anyway.

After Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Twins, the Yanks have now won three in a row and six of their last seven.  Yesterday's win was a coming out party of sorts for rookie slugger Greg Bird, who went deep twice, accounting for all four Bombers' runs.  Bird's long balls not only won the game for the Yanks, but also provided John Sterling a forum to share his brand new home run call.

The Mets were not as fortunate on the diamond, as they lost to Buck Showalter's O's in Baltimore by a score of 5-4.  Noah Syndergaard remains winless on the road and the Mets' bullpen is real reason for concern.  We also get word that the Metsies may elect to skip Matt Harvey's next start, which is scheduled for this Sunday (8/23) in Colorado.

Plus, reports that Eli Manning told the Giants he wants to be the highest paid quarterback in the league were shot down by the quarterback himself, as Eli claimed that he never said such a thing...
