OSSINING, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- An unidentified man found dead on the side of a road in Westchester County had been stabbed multiple times, police said.

"It's upsetting for people in the community, but it is somewhat reassuring to know that we have such a strong police department that is able to handle this kind of a case," Ossining Village Mayor Victoria Gearity told WCBS 880's Sean Adams.

So far, police have no identity, no suspects, no clues and no motive. They are hoping witnesses come forward with information to help solve the case.

The body was found on a well-traveled road lined with homes in a residential neighborhood.

"Anybody who believes that they saw something suspicious, or heard something suspicious should definitely called the police detective unit," Gearity said.

That number is 914-941-5913.
