Jets Cut 12 Players, Including 5 Wide Receivers; Reduce Roster To 78
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — The New York Jets have released 12 players, including five wide receivers, reducing their roster to 78 a day after defeating the Giants 28-18.
The Jets must cut three more players by 4 p.m. Tuesday to get down to the mandatory 75-player limit. All teams must reduce their rosters to 53 players by Saturday.
Wide receivers DeVier Posey, T.J. Graham, Saalim Hakim, Austin Hill and Jonathon Rumph were among the Jets' cuts Sunday. Posey, 25, was acquired from the Houston Texans during the draft.
Veteran cornerback and returner Javier Arenas, signed Aug. 11, was also cut.
Also released were cornerbacks Curtis Brown and Keith Lewis; offensive lineman James Brewer; center Dalton Freeman; linebacker Bryan Johnson; and tight end Matt LaCosse.
