Souvenirs Aplenty As NYC Prepares For Pope Francis' Visit

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- No matter where Pope Francis goes during his visit to New York City, there will be no shortage of souvenirs for the faithful to purchase.

As CBS2's Emily Smith reported, special parking in Times Square in anticipation of Pope Francis, to a shrine fit for the Holy Father, Buca di Beppo is doing all things pope.

"We have a standing reservation for him. Any other time, any of our guests can come and enjoy this area," said manager JT Mclean.

Meanwhile, at Pauline on West 38th Street, there's a nearly life-sized cut out of the pope and a sign that says take a picture and share.

A sacrilegious selfie for Twitter? No way said sister Josea -- the pope's an avid tweeter.

"I think I read somewhere he is one of the most retweeted Twitter persons ever," said sister Josea.

At Ribalta near Union Square, there's pope pizza, made in yellow and white -- the colors of the Vatican flag. It cooks in a sizzling brick oven for five minutes and all of the ingredients are imported from Naples, Italy.

"It's growing in popularity, absolutely. It started slow, but as the pope's visit is coming up, the pope pie is gaining momentum, let's say," said owner Rosario Procino.

Other tchotchkes include a pope toaster, which can be bought online for about $50; pope cookies; Holy Father bobbleheads; T-shirts; flags; and the list goes on and on.

Some of it may sound gimmicky, but those behind it say a pope visiting New York City is historic and it's all part of welcoming the pontiff to town.
