Fire Damages Stores, Church In Downtown Yonkers
YONKERS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Firefighters are on the scene of a 5-alarm fire in downtown Yonkers that damaged a building and a church early Friday morning.
Smoke could be seen coming out of the building on South Broadway as firefighters battled the blaze.
Investigators said the building, which houses a McDonald's and a 99 cent store, was badly damaged as well as the neighboring church.
About 70 firefighters responded to the scene. Officials said a handful of firefighters suffered minor injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
